501 Darts Checkout Calculator
Enter the score you have left: the calculator gives the best way to finish in three darts or fewer, with a few alternatives. The full chart from 2 to 170 is right below.
How to use it
Type your remaining score, from 2 to 170. S = single, D = double, T = triple, Bull = inner bull (50), 25 = outer bull. Under official rules the last dart must be a double (the inner bull counts as a double). The recommended route uses as few darts as possible, then high triples (T20, T19…), then a comfortable double (D20, D16, D8).
The 7 scores with no checkout
With three darts and the last one required to be a double, seven scores are mathematically impossible to finish: 159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 168 and 169. Above 170 you cannot finish in a single turn.
Tips to check out more often
- Leave yourself a comfortable double: between two routes, pick the one that leaves a number you know well (32, 40, 16).
- Above 100, aim first for a score that sets up a good double rather than the shortest theoretical finish.
- Below 40, think in halves: if you miss D16 into the single, 16 is left (D8), then 8 (D4), 4 (D2), 2 (D1) — every miss leaves a lower double.

Frequently asked questions
Why do some scores have no checkout?
Because the last dart must be a double: with three darts, 159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 168 and 169 simply cannot be made.
Does the bull count as a double?
Yes: the inner bull is worth 50 and works as a double 25 to finish. The outer bull (25) cannot finish a leg.
Does FreeDarts require a double to finish?
No. FreeDarts uses a straight-out finish for casual nights: any dart that brings the score to exactly 0 wins the leg. This chart is still useful when you play double-out elsewhere or in competition.
